VMX is marking fresh international milestones with Rodina Singh’s “Dreamboi” set for a US premiere at Frameline and “Relyebo” being lined up for a Japanese remake through Okura Pictures.
“Dreamboi,” produced by CineSilip Film Festival and VMX, will screen on June 23 at the Roxie Theater as part of the 50th Frameline San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
The erotic psychological drama stars EJ Jallorina and Tony Labrusca and follows a trans woman who finds escape from everyday transphobia through the voice of an audio erotica creator. The film first premiered at the inaugural CineSilip Film Festival in October 2025.
Singh, a trans filmmaker known for “Mamu: And a Mother Too,” described the selection as a meaningful moment for trans Filipino storytelling and wider queer visibility.
Meanwhile, VMX’s 2022 erotic drama “Relyebo,” written and directed by Crisanto Aquino and starring Sean de Guzman and Christine Bermas, will be adapted in Japan by Okura Pictures.
The remake will follow the original story while reflecting Japanese culture. Production is scheduled to begin in September 2026, with Bermas in talks for a cameo appearance in the adaptation, further linking the original Philippine production to its overseas version for audiences in Japan, too.
