TAWAU: The formation of voluntary teams comprising members of the public to assist in fire prevention is seen as a proactive initiative by the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
Among these are the Community Fire Brigade and the Fire Squad, as well as the Suri Team (Sedia Urus Risiko Isirumah), which is exclusively for women.
State Assistant Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy believes that tackling fires requires active community participation.
“Various measures must be taken before, during, and after a fire occurs,” he said when launching the Sabah JBPM-level Fire Safety Campaign and the Festive Season Ops in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri here Thursday.
