Volvo EC40 now has a single motor variant available locally.

Volvo Car Malaysia has opened bookings for the new Volvo EC40 single-motor variant, priced at RM248,888. The new option makes the fully electric crossover SUV more accessible, coming in RM40,000 lower than the current twin-motor version while still offering strong performance, range, and premium features.

Performance and Range

The EC40 single-motor variant is offered in Ultra trim and powered by Volvo’s in-house developed permanent magnet rear electric motor, delivering 238 hp (175 kW) and 0–100 km/h acceleration in 7.3 seconds.

A 70kWh high-voltage battery provides up to 488 km (WLTP) on a single charge. With fast DC charging, owners can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes, ensuring practicality for both city use and long-distance drives.

Fresh Design and Sustainable Cabin

For 2026, the EC40 introduces a new Sand Dune exterior colour, inspired by Sweden’s west coast dunes, alongside existing choices like Aurora Silver, Onyx Black, and Crystal White.

Inside, the cabin is leather-free, featuring Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech for a sustainable yet premium feel. Updated Cutting Edge accents on the dashboard and door panels enhance its modern aesthetic.

Next-Generation User Interface

The EC40 single-motor adopts Volvo’s new user interface, first seen in the EX30. With fewer taps required for key functions, it offers a more intuitive experience on the 9-inch Google built-in centre display and 12.3-inch driver’s display.

As with all Volvo models, the EC40 comes equipped with the brand’s Safe Space Technology suite, featuring advanced driver assistance systems and cutting-edge collision avoidance.
