FILIPINO voters have expressed strong support for both economic relief measures and long-term governance reforms, particularly on fiscal policy and accountability in public infrastructure spending, the latest Pahayag national survey showed.
The survey found that addressing financial pressures remains the most urgent concern among respondents, with 88 percent of Filipinos supporting measures such as lowering the Value-Added Tax (VAT), rescheduling estate tax payments, and abolishing the travel tax.
The findings reflect continued public sensitivity to rising living costs and broad support for government interventions aimed at easing household burdens.
At the same level of support, 88 percent of respondents backed a petition urging the Supreme Court to compel the disclosure of the Senate committee report on alleged flood control anomalies.
The strong response indicates sustained public demand for transparency in the handling of infrastructure-related investigations.
Concerns over accountability in government projects were also pronounced, with 84 percent of respondents saying they are troubled by what they viewed as insufficient transparency in the flood control anomaly probes.
The survey also showed strong backing for broader governance reforms. About 81 percent of Filipinos supported a proposal to ban political dynasties up to the second degree of consanguinity, reflecting continued public interest in structural political reform.
Public sentiment also extended to law enforcement performance, with 79 percent of respondents expressing concern over authorities’ ability to locate and arrest high-profile fugitives, including Atong Ang and Zaldy Co.
On symbolic and institutional matters, 77 percent of those surveyed favored declaring Feb. 25, the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, as a regular national holiday.
The survey also found moderate to strong support for policy responses to economic and political challenges, with 70 percent of respondents backing the granting of emergency powers to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to address rising oil prices, while 67 percent supported the filing of an ethics complaint against Sen. Bato Dela Rosa over his prolonged absence from Senate duties.
Pahayag said the results point to a consistent public preference for immediate economic relief alongside stronger accountability mechanisms and institutional reforms.
The survey was conducted from March 21 to 24, 2026, with 1,509 registered voters participating.
Respondents were randomly selected from the PureSpectrum market research panel, a US-based online sampling marketplace with global operations and a regional office in Singapore.
The survey had a national margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
