MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday thanked all mothers and praised them for their sacrifices.
"As a mother, I know the weight and joy of our duty—the silent prayers we offer for our children, the long hours we spend ensuring they are safe, and the constant effort it takes to balance work and family," Duterte said in Filipino in her Mother's Day message.
"To nurture a child and lead a household is one of the most challenging roles any woman can take, but it is also the most rewarding," she added.
Addressing overseas Filipino workers who are mothers, she said, "we know that sacrifice is not always about physical presence—sometimes, the greatest sacrifice is the distance you endure to provide for your family."
"To all mothers loving and taking care of us, many thanks to you," Duterte said.
