VP Sara to PMA graduates: Stand firm vs threats to sovereignty, freedom

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte urged the Philippine Military Academy's "Talang Dangal" Class of 2026 to "stand firm against all threats to our sovereignty and our liberties."

In a video message to the graduates, Duterte said that their graduation is the "culmination of a rigorous journey—one defined by discipline, sacrifice, and an unwavering sense of duty,"

"As you step out of Fort Del Pilar, your lifelong commitment to the nation begins. Put to good use the training and values this institution has instilled in you," she added.

She called on the incoming military officers to be the bearers of Philippine pride, honor, and dignity.

"I urge you to personify integrity and courage at all times. Do not waver, even in the face of the most difficult challenges,"  Duterte said.

She thanked the graduates for choosing "this noble path" and hoped that their service could be a "determination to protect our country and uphold the welfare of every Filipino."

A total of 207 cadets will graduate under this class, with Cadet 1st Class Mark John Catacutan receiving the Vice Presidential Saber this year for being the class Salutatorian.
