Chris Waddle slammed Tottenham's players after their meltdown at Newcastle United on Sunday.

Former Spurs and Newcastle star Waddle was calling the game for BBC Radio on the day.

He said, "You've got to question Tottenham about the pride, the work rate and the honesty.

"I've been so disappointed. The fans who made the journey rightly booed. These players should reimburse the fans. That is one of the worst performances I have ever seen.

"You're talking about a top-five football club. It's embarrassing. You look at their stadium, their facilities, they don't buy players cheap.

"Yet if you look at this team, they're just going through the motions from the kick-off.

"They didn't have belief in the system. It doesn't matter what system you play, you've got to work, you've got to make it work.

"They lay down from the first minute. (Cristian) Romero, a World Cup winner? He turned up and I don't know what head he's got on, I don't know who he thinks he is. I'm not just digging him out. You could dig the lot out. Absolute disgrace.

"All the Tottenham fans who made this journey, I hope they reimburse them. I would get somebody in until the end of the season because they'll be lucky if they finish in the top 10."
