Among the standouts, I was pleased to see Waitrose revive its viral pistachio egg. Off the back of the internet’s enduring obsession with Dubai chocolate, it feels primed for cult status once again. Cleverly moulded into the shape of a pistachio nut, the egg is crafted from Fairtrade cocoa and creamy white chocolate, generously flecked with real pistachio nibs. Better still, Waitrose has dialled things up for 2026, upping the pistachio content for an even nuttier crunch.

Waitrose’s the cracking pistachio Easter egg has a luxe design that is made to turn heads, with a glossy white chocolate and caramelised sugar shell encasing a pistachio-green inner “nut” that nods to the real thing. It feels playful but refined – the sort of fun Easter egg that’s totally gift worthy.
Crack into the outer layer and you’re met with blonde chocolate that’s creamy and gently biscuity, rather than cloying. The caramelised sugar, swirled through the white chocolate, brings a distinct butterscotch warmth that lingers on the tongue, adding depth to what could otherwise be a very sweet shell. A subtle hit of salt runs through it too, cutting through the richness and keeping each bite balanced.

This year’s iteration of the cracking pistachio Easter egg certainly doesn’t scrimp on the filling. The pistachio centre is generously studded with real nut pieces, giving it a satisfying crunch.
