‘Parked at OKU. No OKU sticker. Walked out. Shame on you.’

OKU parking spots are reserved for Malaysians registered as having specific disabilities that impact their mobility. However, despite clear regulations and designated markings, there are still instances where able-bodied motorists unlawfully occupy these spaces.

A frustrated Malaysian took to social media platform Threads to call out a white-coloured luxury vehicle that was parked in an OKU parking bay.

In the photo, the luxury SUV could be seen occupying a clearly marked “RESERVED OKU” bay.

The caption accompanying the post read: “Parked at OKU. No OKU sticker. Walked out. Shame on you.”

The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of reactions from netizens who condemned the act as irresponsible and entitled behaviour.

User @withanis__ shared a similar experience, claiming she had witnessed another motorist committing the same offence at a different location.

“I had just parked when he was already walking to the lift. He’s not OKU. Just an entitled man,” she wrote, adding that signage clearly indicated the bay’s restrictions.

Another user, @linda_milion, lamented what she described as a disconnect between wealth and responsibility.

“Expensive car, has class but sadly the owner has none. Low mentality,” she wrote, adding that such drivers are often seen disregarding basic road courtesy, including the use of indicators.

One argued that some motorists feel immune to consequences due to their financial status.

“Even if they get fined, they can afford it. Fines are cheap to them,” the commenter said.
