Police temporarily close Jalan Wang Kelian and Wang Kelian View Point over adverse weather and unstable road structure concerns.

KANGAR: Police have temporarily closed Jalan Wang Kelian in Padang Besar and the Wang Kelian View Point to all road users effective 7 pm tonight.

The closure will remain in effect until further notice due to safety risks from adverse weather conditions and unstable road structures.

Padang Besar district police chief ACP Mohd Shokri Abdullah said the decision followed a risk assessment and technical discussions with safety agencies.

The assessment involved the Public Works Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force and People’s Volunteer Corps.

“The closure will remain in effect until JKR confirms that the route is stable, and safe for use,” he said in a statement tonight.

He emphasized that road user safety remains the top priority for authorities.

Police and security agencies are conducting 24-hour monitoring in the affected areas.

Updates on the road’s reopening will be announced once the route is deemed fully safe. – Bernama
