Ahmad Zahid says Wanita UMNO must evolve with changing politics and help rebuild public confidence while strengthening the party
KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita UMNO needs to be bolder in championing women and families, engaging the younger generation and rebuilding public confidence in the party, UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the role of Wanita UMNO must continue to evolve in line with the changing political landscape, as the wing had remained a key force driving the party through different eras, both in times of victory and adversity.
“From one generation to the next, the spirit of the struggle has continued to be passed down. It lives in every state, division and branch, and most importantly, it is deeply rooted in the community.
“Wanita UMNO is not merely the backbone of the party, but also one of UMNO’s most visible faces among the people,” Ahmad Zahid said in a Facebook post today.
He also expressed his highest appreciation for the loyalty and sacrifices of Wanita UMNO members who had remained steadfast and continued to fight alongside the party even in times of adversity.
“Happy 77th anniversary to Wanita UMNO Malaysia. Continue to be a unifying force, a helping hand and the lifeblood of the struggle.
“With the loyalty, courage and strength of Wanita UMNO, we will continue moving forward together to take UMNO ahead,” he said.
