KOTA KINABALU: A warden of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha chose not to answer a question on possible negligence by the school and hostel in the incident involving the late Zara Qairina Mahathir, the Coroner’s Court heard on Thursday.

Miswati Lundu, 38, declined to respond after counsel Datuk Ram Singh asked whether the school had failed to prevent the incident that occurred on July 15–16.

The court was told that several documents, including the Safe School guidebook, were submitted during the proceedings, with Ram questioning whether procedures outlined for counsellors were followed.

Miswati admitted that the procedure requiring parents to be informed was not carried out in Zara’s case, despite acknowledging that the incident was considered serious.

She later agreed that the Safe School guidebook is an important reference, as she continued her testimony as the 48th deponent in Zara’s ongoing inquest.
