Kota Kinabalu: Warisan Kota Kinabalu Division Information Chief, Samuel Wong (pic), praised DAP MP Ramkarpal Singh for urging a thorough investigation into the alleged Sabah mining scandal, despite Ramkarpal’s colleagues in Sabah DAP preferring to remain silent.
Ramkarpal even criticised Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Commissioner Azam Baki for claiming that lack of information is hindering investigations.
AdvertisementHe said while Ramkarpal upholds DAP’s long-standing commitment to anti-corruption efforts, his Sabah counterparts have yet to make a stand. He said Sabah DAP’s continued silence raises serious concerns about their true position.
“Ramkarpal has made it crystal clear that the videos provide enough evidence to warrant an immediate and thorough investigation under the MACC Act 2009. So why is Sabah DAP pretending this issue does not exist?” Wong asked.

“This is absolutely unacceptable. The MACC has vast powers under the law, including search and seizure, account tracking, and communication interception. To say they can only record explanations from both sides is an insult to the intelligence of Malaysians,” he said.
AdvertisementWong warned that MACC’s handling of the case reeks of selective prosecution, particularly when high-ranking government officials are allegedly involved. Wong also challenged Sabah DAP to publicly declare its stance instead of hiding behind political alliances.
He said corruption directly impacts Sabah’s future, depriving its people of development, economic opportunities, and fair governance.
AdvertisementMeanwhile, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia urged the authorities, particularly MACC, to take firm and immediate action regarding the corruption video scandal.
State Bersatu Secretary Yunus Nurdin, in a statement issued during the party’s official State Leadership Body (BPN), said any delay in the investigation is unacceptable. Bersatu Sabah also expressed deep disappointment over persistent issues such as electricity disruptions, unstable clean water supply, and severely damaged roads in Sabah.
“These problems have worsened over the past two years, and Bersatu Sabah demands the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) State Government take responsibility and urgently resolve these fundamental issues affecting the people.
“The meeting also highlighted concerns about the rising cost of living, which continues to burden the people of Sabah. Several key State leadership appointments were announced, namely State Secretary: Yunus Nurdin, State Treasurer: Lim Ting Kai, State Information Chief: Suhaimi Buang, State Srikandi Chief: Rahimah Majid and State Srikandi Muda Chief: Nabila Norsahar.
The meeting was chaired by Sabah Bersatu Chief Datuk Dr Ronald Kiandee.
