KOTA KINABALU: Warisan and Barisan Nasional (BN) should serve as a firm and responsible opposition as Sabah moves into a new government under Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, says G57 Chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar (pic).

He said the election outcome gives Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) a clear mandate to govern while creating room for a “mature and principled” opposition.

Zulkarnain added that Warisan and BN are better positioned to provide constructive scrutiny, defend public interest and question decisions that may affect the state.

He reiterated that Umno assemblymen should not be brought into the new administration, recalling the 2023 “Langkah Kinabalu” episode as a reminder of the need for integrity and loyalty.

He said the new government, which secured 38 seats with the support of Upko, Pakatan Harapan and several independents, must now deliver its promises under Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 while being kept in check by a vigilant opposition.
