PENAMPANG: United Kinabalu Progressive Organisation (Upko) Youth Chief Billy Joe Dominic said the district’s flood mitigation plan was approved by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak before Parti Warisan came to power in 2018.

“However, implementation was halted for nearly three years due to lack of allocation and issues with relocating residents,” Billy said.

Refuting claims by Warisan Party Vice President Terrence Siambun, Billy said when Datuk Ewon Benedick took over as Penampang Member of Parliament, he (Ewon) worked to secure additional funding and facilitate the work of government agencies responsible for implementing the project.

“Now, thanks to Ewon’s efforts, the flood mitigation project is under way for the benefit of Penampang residents,” he said. Support Independant Journalism Subscribe to Daily Express Malaysia 1-Year: Premium PlanRM180.00 / yearSubscribe Already a subscriber? Unlock this Article, Sign In Here
