Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal will announce the party’s full list of 73 candidates after the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) is dissolved.

He said the list has been finalised but will be revealed only at the appropriate time.

“The list is ready and I will announce it once the Assembly is dissolved.

“But I can assure you that all our candidates are professionals, with the majority having the necessary qualifications and capabilities,” he told a press conference after chairing a Warisan Supreme Council meeting, here, Wednesday.

Asked whether the 14 incumbent Warisan assemblymen would be retained, Shafie said priority will be given to candidates who can secure victory.

“It does not necessarily mean incumbents will contest again. What matters most is selecting winnable candidates so that the party can secure the mandate to govern Sabah,” he said.

He reiterated that Warisan will contest the election on its own, a decision unanimously agreed upon by the party’s leadership.

“The party has unanimously decided that we will contest all 73 seats. This means there will be no coalition. If you see any photos or stories circulating, don’t take them seriously.

“This is a party decision, not just the President’s decision. Today we are clarifying this matter because many things have been spread on TikTok with questionable images, even though we have clearly stated that our cooperation is with the people of Sabah,” he said.

On the party’s vision and mission for the coming State election, Shafie hinted that the education and health ministries established during his previous administration would be reinstated.

“We will explain this to the people. If given the opportunity, we can do better than Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and I will make sure of it.

“We have arranged measures for improvement, such as strengthening the safety of children in schools. We will work in line with the national education policy, not against the national education and health frameworks.

“Yes, we will bring back both ministries and restructure them,” he said.
