Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan is demanding both the Federal and State governments to release the details of the historic RM4.06 billion allocated to fix Sabah’s water crisis, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi recently.
“The Federal and State governments must immediately release full, transparent details of all 83 projects — or risk more than another empty promise,” it said.
The call comes as the State Capital itself grapples with crippling water shortages that have hit at least 14 major hotels and key commercial districts — raising serious questions about whether rural communities will ever see reliable supply if Kota Kinabalu cannot even guarantee stable service.
Warisan Supreme Council member Chen Ket Chuin said Sabahans have endured decades of dry taps, rationing and delayed projects, and broad funding announcements are no longer enough.
He insisted the public has a right to know exactly where every ringgit will go.
“After years of frustration, the people no longer want grand announcements without clear details,” Chen said in a statement“RM4.06 billion is a huge amount of public money,” he said and demanded the full list of 83 Rural Water Supply (BALB) projects be published — including exact locations, costs, contractors, implementation status and firm completion dates — alongside regular public progress updates on spending, delays and contractor performance.
