Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan (Warisan) has pulled out of the contest for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat on Dec 7, said its Secretary General Datuk Loretto Padua Jr.

“However, the Warisan logo will still be listed on the ballot papers as it has registered as one of the parties contesting for the seat on Nov 5. The Election Commission has already been informed about Warisan’s decision,” he said. The Padang Serai seat saw a six-way tussle when nominations closed on Nov 24.

The candidates are Mohamad Sofee Razak (Pakatan Harapan), C Sivarraajh (BN), Azman Nasrudin (Perikatan Nasional), Hamzah Abdul Rahman (Pejuang), Sreanandha Rao (Independent) and Warisan’s Bakri Hashim.

The seat fell vacant after incumbent PH’s M Karupaiya passed away days ahead of the Nov 19 polling day, which required the election process to be started anew.

He was seeking for a second term as Padang Serai MP.
