
Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan candidate for the Bugaya State seat, by-election of which coincides with the Nov 19 general election, outlined eight aspirations he would on if elected.
Jamil Hamzah said the first is to fight for local infrastructure development, including stable electricity supply, access to clean water supply, roads and quality services.
Secondly, to ensure no youths drop out from school and every child receives quality education.
“(Third is) youth empowerment, through programmes that strengthen the economy, human capital and identity among youngsters.
“(Fourth, I aspire to) bridge the income gap by introducing the concept of ‘2K’ (One Family, One Skills) because this initiative is believed to increase opportunities to generate income and family economy,” he said in a statement.
His other aspirations include the transformation of happiness and cleanliness, by making Bugaya a pilot project for landscape management and cheerfulness as well as empowering hygiene practices and introducing more effective and value-added recycling.
The Bugaya State constituency is having a by-election after the seat fell vacant following the passing of its Warisan incumbent Manis Muka Mohd Darah on Nov 17, 2020.
Jamil faces a seven-cornered fight with Abd Aziz Mohd Ibno (Umno-BN), Arastam Pandorog (PKR-PH), Mohd Hassan Abu Bakar (Pejuang), Nazmawati Walli (PBM), Karil Pg Kuraini (PBRS) and Independent candidate Zulfadzli Shi Ahmad.
