KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic) has criticised Parti Warisan for involving the Istana Negeri in its political agenda, calling it a move driven by lies and bad intentions.

In a statement on Friday, Hajiji took aim at Warisan leaders Datuk Darell Leiking and Datuk Azis Jamman for their social media posts questioning the Head of State Tun Musa Aman's official birthday celebration.

Hajiji stressed that the Istana is apolitical and should not be entangled in Warisan’s political manoeuvres, adding that as Chief Minister, he is duty-bound to defend the institution.

He clarified that Musa initially suggested forgoing the celebration due to its clash with Hari Raya, but the State Cabinet later decided to proceed in June more modestly.

The number of events has been reduced from 12 to seven this year, cutting costs by 30 per cent, and Hajiji reminded both Darell and Azis that they should understand the planning involved from their time in government.
