Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Wira Liaison Officer Khairuddin Daud said PKR Deputy Information Head Razeef Rakimin must accept the fact that the people of Sabah has rejected the peninsula-based party.
Responding to Razeef’s recent statement, Khairuddin said Razeef ran out of arguments and has resorted to throwing slanderous and misleading statements against Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal who questioned the failure of the Pakatan Harapan PKR and DAP leadership to fulfil the rights of the people of Sabah during their 22-months in power in Putrajaya.
“Razeef has to accept that PKR has not been warmly received in Sabah despite having been present in the State for a long time. Even in the state elections, PKR only won two of the seven seats given to them; in contrast, DAP won more seats.
“But now Razeef issues vehement statements in the name of Pakatan Harapan, even though PKR is obviously rejected by the people of Sabah,” said Khairuddin in a statement, here, Monday.
He claimed Razeef had likely forgotten that Warisan received more popular votes in the Sabah state election than had BN and PN, demonstrating the continued popularity of Warisan as a local Sabah party in comparison to parties from Malaya.
“Razeef was aware that Pakatan Harapan’s internal strife was the root of their loss. He is aware that Anwar Ibrahim’s ambition has made it impossible for Pakatan Harapan to continue leading the federal government after the 14th general election,” he said.
Khairuddin claimed that Anwar’s ambitions’ undermined the people’s hope to see a new government administration following Barisan Nasional.
He said that internal pressure from PKR against the Pakatan Harapan led by Tun Dr Mahathir at the time caused Pakatan Harapan to lose focus on carrying out its agenda after promises were made to appoint Anwar as prime minister.
“Because Anwar did not become prime minister at the time, Razeef was one of the Pakatan Harapan government’s loudest critics.
“In the end, Pakatan Harapan itself was fractious and unstable, and it collapsed as a result of internal power conflicts, resulting in other states including Sabah being affected.
“This is the biggest lesson for the people of Sabah when allowing permitting a party from Malaya to take root in the State.
“We in Sabah suffered as a result of the political unrest and rivalries among them. Therefore, the people of Sabah ought to forbid parties from Malaya from setting foot here,” he said.
