Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Youth Vice Chief Khairuddin Daud reminded Sabah PKR Youth Communications Director Fekirie Gobet that Warisan was the first party to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the Prime Minister post when there was an impasse.
“In fact, after GE14, when Umno and GPS had not yet declared support for Anwar as Prime Minister, Warisan did so.
“This clearly shows Warisan’s consistent stance in rejecting Perikatan Nasional,” he said, and asked whether supporting the PKR President to become Prime Minister when he did not have a majority was “crazy”.
He was responding to Sabah PKR Youth Communications Director Fekirie Gobet calling Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal “crazy” for asking Sabahans not to vote for peninsula-based parties in the next elections.

“Fekirie also accused Shafie of failing to solve water, electricity, and road infrastructure problems in Sabah during his time in the Federal Cabinet.
“This shows Fekirie’s ignorance of the real issues faced by the people of Sabah.
“Water infrastructure problems are under the responsibility of the state government, and history shows there has been misappropriation of funds worth hundreds of millions of ringgit.
“In fact, Chief Minister Hajiji Noor himself admitted that this problem is a legacy from the Barisan Nasional government then led by Musa Aman, but of which Hajiji was a part.
Isn’t this more appropriate to be called “crazy”? he asked.
Khairuddin said that as a political leader, Fekirie should be more knowledgeable about Federal allocations distributed to 14 states throughout Malaysia including federal territories.
He also said the accusation of a “coup” only embarrasses Pakatan Harapan (PH). Barisan Nasional’s action of withdrawing support for GRS then has nothing to do with Warisan, which was in the opposition bloc with PH.
“So, why is Warisan accused of being involved in the ‘coup’, when it was Barisan Nasional who withdrew support and PH and PKR benefited from this ‘coup’,” he said.
Khairuddin said Shafie’s tour series throughout Sabah aims to explain Sabah’s rights enshrined in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement and to answer people’s questions regarding these rights that should have long been fulfilled.
“However, it is very disappointing when leaders who fight for Sabah’s rights are labelled as “crazy”, while a handful of young Sabah leaders who defend Malayan parties in this state are highly praised.
“Warisan’s decision to contest in the peninsula tests the true attitude of Sabah leaders.
“Warisan was labelled a ‘troublemaker’ by Malayan parties including PH when trying to share 167 parliamentary seats in peninsular Malaysia, but when national parties contest and try to share only 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah, they are not considered ‘troublemakers’.
“Isn’t it ‘crazy’ when Sabah leaders are willing to surrender Parliamentary and State Assembly seats to peninsula-based parties, rather than defending these seats for parties from Sabah, as is done in Sarawak?”
