Warning of major disruption ahead of London Tube strike

  • Transport for London (TfL) has issued a last-minute appeal for Tube strikes to be called off, which are set to cause significant disruption next week.
  • Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union, including drivers, signallers, and maintenance staff, are planning walkouts over pay and conditions.
  • TfL warns of few or no services between Monday and Thursday, with some disruption on Sunday, and Docklands Light Railway services also affected on Tuesday and Thursday.
  • TfL has offered a 3.4 per cent pay rise, describing it as "fair," but states that the RMT's demand for a cut in the working week is "unaffordable".
  • Nick Dent, TfL’s director of customer operations, urged the RMT to put the company's offer to a ballot of its members, highlighting the potential damage of the strikes.
