Amid back-to-back ED and CBI raids, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring hit out at the BJP and AAP, alleging “vendetta politics”.
Referring to the CBI raid at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau office on Monday night, Warring alleged it had become the standard operating procedure (SOP) of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He alleged that central agencies first target politicians and then move on to bureaucrats and police officers, sending a clear message: fall in line and do their bidding, or face the consequences.
“The timing is obvious. With Punjab elections approaching, yet another assault on democracy has begun. We are fully prepared for what comes next: the targeting of Congress party leaders,” he said.
Warring alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), under Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, has followed a similar pattern in state politics. He alleged that the Punjab Congress has been the worst victim of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau during AAP’s rule.
“Our senior leaders were falsely implicated, intimidated, and harassed. Several cases were eventually quashed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. We have not forgotten — and we will not forget,” he pointed out.
