
LAHAD DATU: A suspected wartime ordnance was discovered along the banks of Sungai Segama on Sunday.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the item was found by a 52-year-old man while fishing, who promptly alerted the authorities.
An inspection revealed the ordnance to be about 30 centimetres long and weighing over 200 kilograms.
Further checks by the Armament Division confirmed it to be a relic believed to date back to the Second World War.
Police have advised the public to avoid the area while the Sabah Bomb Disposal Unit prepares to safely detonate the ordnance.
