A businessman facing five corruption charges showed up to Negeri Sembilan’s state election nomination day on Saturday wearing a Perikatan Nasional (PN) shirt — and left with a viral video.

Albert Tei, 47, was filmed outside the Dewan Besar Kuala Klawang nomination centre in Jelebu pointing toward a group of Pakatan Harapan supporters and saying: “Look here, there are many dogs… Do you know dogs? They are just barking.”

The 25-second clip spread quickly online.

By afternoon, Tei had confirmed to the media that he made the remarks, saying he was provoked by the rival supporters.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim, who was present at the nomination centre, denied that any provocation had taken place from the Pakatan Harapan side.

The Man Who Made Himself the Evidence

Tei is not a newcomer to controversy; he first drew national attention by releasing self-recorded videos documenting his own alleged attempts to bribe Sabah assemblymen for mineral exploration licences.

When those deals fell through, he escalated — recording himself as he brought the matter to Putrajaya.

His disclosures led to the prosecution of Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Akin, a former senior political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Tei himself now faces five charges under the MACC Act for allegedly giving Shamsul RM140,000 in cash, high-end furniture, and a separate bank payment of RM64,924.

He has pleaded not guilty, and his defence team is seeking to transfer the trial to the High Court.

He is also suing the MACC, its chief commissioner, and the government in a separate civil suit over being made to wear a standard orange lockup shirt — a case his lawyers argue raises constitutional questions.

He is also the man who, when MACC officers in balaclavas and bulletproof vests raided his Puchong home and led him away in handcuffs, shouted “Lawan Tetap Lawan” — the same battle cry Anwar Ibrahim made famous in 1998.

What RM629,000 Allegedly Buys You in Putrajaya

Tei did not just allege that money changed hands — he produced a 300-page dossier detailing what he says Shamsul Iskandar solicited in exchange for help securing mineral exploration licences in Sabah.

The list included cash payments totalling hundreds of thousands of ringgit, delivered in multiple instalments across Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, and Bukit Puchong between November 2023 and April 2024 — with some requests allegedly sent via WhatsApp while Shamsul Iskandar was travelling overseas.

Beyond cash, Tei claimed Shamsul Iskandar asked him to fund renovations and furnishings for two properties — a private home in Bangsar and an official residence in Putrajaya — covering everything from luxury leather furniture and a home theatre system to a massage chair and custom-tailored suits, for which Tei says he was given Shamsul Iskandar’s exact measurements.

Tei also alleged that Shamsul Iskandar, purportedly with Anwar’s backing, directed him to secretly record Sabah assemblymen admitting to accepting bribes — footage intended to pressure Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor into negotiating the mining licences.
