In a heartwarming display of cultural integration and adorable cuteness, a Japanese woman named Iori, married to a Malaysian man, Faris, captured the hearts of locals while ordering drinks at Starbucks.
The endearing scene was captured in a viral TikTok video posted by @annisa_farish_kl, the Japanese x Malay couple themselves, which quickly gained 2 million views.
As the video begins, we see Iori mustering up her courage to speak Malay while placing her drink orders. With a lovely smile, she confidently starts with an Ice Latte, emphasising “Tall” in a delightful, exaggerated manner.
“Hi, I want one Ice Latte…Tall!”
The Starbucks staff, charmed by her effort, inquire if she prefers a Grande or a Venti size, but Iori insists on a “Tall” only.
Coming in strong, Iori proceeds to order a Double Shot, asking, “Double shot, can?”
Her determined yet adorable attempts to converse in Malay make her struggle endearing to watch. Remarkably, her pronunciation is surprisingly flawless!
Faris, the husband, was also present, his admiration for his wife speaking Malay on full display.
Finally, with her mission nearly accomplished, Iori triumphantly orders an ‘Acai Lemonade’ (Strawberry Lemonade) as her third drink, “One, Acai Lemonade”.
Graciously, she concludes her delightful encounter with a heartfelt “Terima Kasih” (Thank You), displaying her respect and appreciation!
