- Following his resignation announcement last month, Sir Keir pledged his full support to his designated successor, Andy Burnham.
- Andy Burnham, the Makerfield MP, is expected to take office on Monday.
- Mr Burnham secured the backing of more than 300 Labour Members of Parliament.
