
- A British-owned superyacht, the Bayesian, which sank off the coast of Sicily in August, has been successfully raised from the seabed by a specialist salvage team.
- The sinking incident resulted in the deaths of seven out of 22 people on board, including the owner, British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, and his 18-year-old daughter.
- Although freak weather was initially blamed for the sinking, naval experts have stated that the Bayesian should have been able to withstand such conditions and not sunk so rapidly.
- Tragically, a diver from the specialist salvage company died in May during a preliminary recovery operation for the vessel.
