A harrowing accident involving seven vehicles on Bukit Gambir Road this evening resulted in five individuals, including students, sustaining severe injuries.

The distressing incident occurred at 3 PM along the route from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) towards Jalan Tun Dr Awang, involving three motorcycles and four cars.

V Saravanan, the Acting Northeast District Police Chief, revealed that the collision took place at a traffic light junction.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the accident ensued when a car, allegedly driven by an intoxicated woman, lost control and collided with vehicles ahead of her. In a leaked dashcam footage, the woman, driving a Perodua Myvi was caught encroaching into a narrow lane, evidently speeding before crashing into the vehicles ahead of her.
