A prisoner used a pencil to get out of a cell and escape a detention center.
Charles Dietrich, 30, of New York, was being held at Chesterfield County Detention Center in South Carolina after being charged over a stolen vehicle and drugs.
Surveillance video from 4.20pm on September 1 showed him lifting the door of a cell in the older part of the complex and putting a pencil in the locking mechanism, which allowed him to slide the door open.
He then exited through an unlocked door used by kitchen staff then scaled a fence and barbed wire. He was recaptured by deputies on a nearby road shortly after.
