Kota Kinabalu: The Water Department is checking on supply to parts of Tanjung Aru and Sembulan following complaints about intermittent supply which shop operators and homeowners in these areas have been receiving for the past few weeks.

A spokesman for the agency said its staff were in the midst of verifying these problems around both towns.

“Our staff will have to determine if the distribution mains before the water meters for these premises may have become air-locked,” he said.

“This may be preventing the treated water from effectively reaching these homes, offices and shops.

“If there is still no incoming supply after these blockages have been cleared, then we will have to determine what could be contributing to the water problems here.”

He said if it warrants, the Department may consider adjusting a valve along its distribution line servicing these areas.

“This will allow some treated water to reach the affected consumers.”

He advised the public in Tanjung Aru and Sembulan to keep the agency appraised of any irregularities so that action could be taken to deal with these problems.
