- Welsh water company Hafren Dyfrdwy has agreed to pay a £280,000 package of measures following unacceptable failures that led to sewage spills.
- Regulator Ofwat found the utility failed in its duties to adequately deal with wastewater and sewage or maintain proper operational processes.
- The agreed measures, which cannot be funded through customer bills, include constructing two storm water balancing tanks and creating a wetland habitat.
- The enforcement action comes after the supplier was allowed to increase average customer bills by 9 per cent to £635 for the 2026-27 financial year.
- This decision marks the ninth case in Ofwat's ongoing sector-wide sewage investigation, which has secured more than £300 million in penalties and packages.
