SANDAKAN: Kinabatangan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Bung Moktar reckons it will cost between RM23 and RM27 billion to restore the water issue in Sabah.

The Sabah Umno head said when he was the State Minister in Charge of Water, he prepared a paper outlining the actions that the State Government would have to do.

He said if the budget was only RM2-RM3 billion, only two to three per cent could be accomplished. He said the people of Sabah have the right to clean water and that he raised the matter at the federal level.

“The Federal Government merely provides loans to Sabah, rather than large amounts of money, like in Kelantan, where the Federal Government granted RM7 billion for water allocation. They (the Federal Government) cannot do that in Sabah since water issues are under the jurisdiction of the Sabah government.”

Bung also announced the 25 BN coordinators throughout the State, who will discuss, among other things, the BN’s direction and future in light of the next election.
