KOTA KINABALU: The water situation in Papar, the only district declared a drought disaster area in Sabah, is showing slight improvement, according to Deputy Chief Minister and Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.
As per his latest update on Tuesday morning, both water plants, Jetama and Kogopon, are producing about 49 million liters per day (MLD), slightly below the target by 10 to 12MLD.
The water treatment plant's operation under the Emergency Water Supply Scheme (EWSS) in Limbahau remains temporarily halted due to high chloride content in the water.
Papar was declared a drought disaster area by the District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) on March 13.
