Water tanker brings relief to traders in Segama

Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party Vice President cum Api-Api Division Chairman Sim Fui arranged for the delivery of a tanker carrying 9,000 litres of clean water to the Segama commercial area to help businesses hit by the city’s ongoing water disruption, courtesy of Kojasa Holdings.

Sim said the prolonged shortage had disrupted daily operations for many traders in the area.

“Restaurants, retail outlets and service providers have all been facing difficulties due to the lack of sufficient water for cleaning, business operations and basic daily needs, resulting in financial losses and inconvenience to the public,” he said.

“Kota Kinabalu deserves a reliable and stable supply of essential utilities. Residents have had to endure recurring electricity disruptions, and now they are facing a serious water crisis as well,” he added.

He urged the State Government to treat the crisis with urgency and implement long-term solutions so Kota Kinabalu and its surrounding areas receive a stable water supply instead of relying on emergency deliveries.

He said the water distribution costing RM3,000 offered only temporary relief, and hoped it would encourage more organisations to help affected businesses while government works on a permanent fix.

Sim said he would continue monitoring water and utility issues affecting Kota Kinabalu residents and raising them with the relevant authorities.
