Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has returned about RM40 million to the government from the so-called Sabah Watergate corruption scandal and anticipates that more funds will be given back.
The MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, said more than RM53 million has been presented as evidence during trial in the case and the agency will request the confiscated money to be returned to the government.
"Some quarters may claim that the money has not been returned and it could be that they did not see how the money is returned," said Azam.
"If there is new information that we have not discovered, it will be investigated through different methods."
