Waze has announced several new features that make its navigation app more personalised while expanding Gemini AI integration.
The headline feature for Malaysian users is Motorcycle Mode, which is rolling out on Android and iOS alongside Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.
The new mode is designed specifically for two-wheelers, using AI to recommend more suitable routes based on motorcycle-friendly roads and restrictions. It also highlights hazards that are especially relevant to riders, including potholes, speed bumps, raised crosswalks, narrow bridges and shoulder endings. Waze says the feature combines its real time traffic data with updates from dedicated motorcycle map editors.
On top of that, Waze is introducing personalised navigation globally. The app can now suggest routes based on your previous driving habits, such as preferring highways over smaller roads. If you’d rather not use personalised recommendations, you can turn the feature off in the settings.

Another new addition is ‘Less Chatty’ mode, which reduces the number of voice prompts while still notifying you about important turns, lane changes and hazards. It’s available worldwide on Android and iOS.
Furthermore, Google is expanding its Gemini capabilities in Waze. Users can now report map issues naturally by saying things like “The road is closed here”, with the report sent to local map editors for verification.

Lastly, Waze beta users can now use Gemini-powered voice search to find destinations with conversational requests such as “Find me a coffee shop that’s open now” or “Find me the cheapest petrol station nearby”, without needing to type specific names or addresses.
