Recently, a 4-year-old boy was attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Kampung Dede, Langkawi, causing serious injuries to his head, body and legs.

Following this, Langkawi MP Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah highlighted a potential solution to prevent any more stray dog attacks there.

In a press conference in Parliament today (March 4), he has proposed that stray dogs in Langkawi be relocated to an island, as stray dogs have been attacking both locals and tourists, in hopes that the island can also become a tourist attraction for animal lovers.

“I propose turning these stray dogs into a unique tourist attraction. Langkawi has 99 islands. Maybe one could be dedicated to housing these dogs,” he said.

He also assured that the island will be equipped with facilities to care for the dogs should his suggestion become a reality.

On top of that, he urged animal lovers and animal welfare NGOs to adopt and take in the strays in Langkawi.

“We also appeal to animal lovers and non-governmental organisations to visit Langkawi and adopt these dogs. Individuals who are interested in adopting puppies are welcome to do so,” he added.
