MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday reiterated his administration’s strong resolve to bring former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co to the Philippines.

Last week, Co was apprehended by authorities in the Czech Republic for immigration violations. He is wanted for his alleged involvement in massive corruption tied to anomalous flood control projects.

“He remains in the custody of the Czech Republic and we are taking all necessary steps for his return to the Philippines. I have directed the Department of Justice together with the Department of Foreign Affairs to lead the coordination with the authorities of the Czech Republic to ensure that all necessary procedures are in order and in accordance with the process,” Marcos said in Filipino in a video message released by Malacañang.

A high-level team will be dispatched to coordinate with Czech officials, the President said.

“These processes follow legal steps between countries and therefore require sufficient time to be carried out correctly,” he said.

“We will bring Zaldy Co home and we will do so in accordance with the law. He will answer to the Filipino people,” he added.
