Directed by You Su-min and Park Dan-hee, the action thriller K-drama tells the story of star student Si-eun’s (played by Park Ji-hoon) refusal to bow down to his bullies at high school.
Weak Hero Class 1, which was released in 2022, recorded a 45.5 per cent market share on the South Korean streaming platform Wavve. Moreover, the first three episodes premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival in October 2022.
Season 1, which was made available on Netflix in March 2025, experienced a resurgence in popularity. It topped the OTT giant’s Global Top 10 Non-English Shows charts in over 90 markets, including Australia, Canada, the United States, South Korea, Thailand, India, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
According to Netflix, season 2 delves deeper “into the tougher sides of teenagers’ lives” and aims to expand the success of the franchise with a deeper plot and twisted characters.
