The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted moderate thunderstorms in Jhajjar, Bahadurgarh, Berikhas, Sampla, Kharkhoda, and Sonepat, with winds at 40-50 kmph.
Besides a thunderstorm, lightning is likely over parts of Gurugram, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Bahadurgarh, Berikhas, Sampla, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Sonepat and Gohana.
The weather department has predicted lightning strikes on vulnerable spots, including tall trees, electricity towers, water bodies, building tops, and hilltops. Also, there is a risk of flying debris and other objects, disruption of water and power supplies, and damage to kutcha houses, huts and other weak structures.
The thunderstorm can also cause traffic congestion due to low visibility and also disruption of train and air services.
The weather department has advised residents to move to safe buildings and avoid weak structures. Farmers have been advised to suspend farming work and keep livestock at safe locations. People are advised to stay away from electricity poles and power lines. Don’t take shelter under trees, don’t go near water bodies, and don’t touch metallic objects.
“The thunderstorm will provide some respite from heatwave in Haryana,” said the Director, IMD, Chandigarh.
