A week before Father’s Day, a family in Morta village found itself living through a story that few can imagine and even fewer can tell.
A 45-year-old man, Jayant Tyagi, was diagnosed with liver as well as kidney failure. Doctors advised that both organs need to be replaced. For a family already struggling to come to terms with the diagnosis, the challenge seemed overwhelming.
But as uncertainty grew, so did the resolve of Jayant’s two daughters. His elder daughter, Rishika Tyagi, who recently completed her BTech and is set to be married in the coming months, made a decision that would alter the course of her father’s treatment. She offered to donate one of her kidneys. When she informed her would-be in-laws about her decision, they stood firmly by her side.
Her younger sister Khushi, a first-year BTech student, decided that she too would do her part. She volunteered to donate a portion of her liver.
According to family members, both sisters had only one thought in mind – they would not let anything happen to their father.
The road to the operation was not immediate. Following the diagnosis, several people underwent medical evaluation. Relatives said the reports of both daughters matched the medical requirements. Doctors then carried out extensive counselling and assessments before finally deciding to proceed once all three were found fit for surgery.
Jayant and his daughters were admitted to a private hospital in Noida, where doctors performed the complex transplant procedures on Monday. After hours inside the operating theatre, the surgeries were successfully completed.
The family’s relief was immense. Doctors informed them that the condition of Jayant and both daughters was stable.
For Jayant’s close friend, Amit Ranjan, the outcome marked the end of weeks of anxiety. He said the family had been left heartbroken after learning about the dual organ failure.
According to him, both daughters repeatedly said, “If my dad is there, we have everything.”
The story has resonated far beyond the walls of the hospital. BJP’s city president Mayank Goyal said Jayant Tyagi had previously served as a sector convener in the party organisation. During his operation, several party workers came forward to donate blood.
Just days before Father’s Day, daughters gifted uniquely, as the gift was life itself.
