In a recent article, Prof Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi, a Professor of Architecture at a local university congratulated Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang upon his recent award by the king. Prof Dr Mohd described Lim Kit Siang as a true wakil kepada rakyat (people’s representative) who was never a minister or appointed to any office at all. In his decades in politics, Lim Kit Siang has remained true to his fight for a better Malaysia for all. As such, he has gained the respect of our people from different ethnicities and ages.
Prof Dr Mohd shared three things that he thought he would never see before he dies, namely, for PH (Pakatan Harapan) to win, for Anwar to become PM and for Kit Siang to be called Tan Sri. I think many of us who have gone through a few rounds of General Elections would concur with him. When considering the possibility of seeing the above happen in our time, many of us would have answered, “You must be joking…”.
There is a wind of change blowing across our land. This is evidenced by the wisdom of our king in handling the various problems that have plagued our nation in recent years, the increased tolerance and the understanding shown by the various political parties to put the nation’s interest first before party interest, thereby the formation of the unity government. So, what seems to be impossible then has become possible. Can I call it a miracle? Malaysians have demonstrated that they want peace and stability. Malaysians have matured in their thinking to make informed choices for their future. Malaysians are joining hands to fight for a better Malaysia. We are progressing and we will continue to progress.
So, despite of a few who are still at odds with the desire of the majority, let us not give up or lose hope in building a Malaysia that is truly for all Malaysians. Together, we can and will turn impossible situations around. Let us expect more miracles in our personal lives, our families, our workplaces and our nation. Truly, Malaysia is a blessed nation!
