I was warded for 6 days (16-21 January) to flush out internal water retentions and following which my grand-daughter, Ilfi Fatihah - Primary 6 pupil for 2 days (22-23 January) for fixing-up her broken right hand at Hospital Putrajaya. The treatment by our caring doctors focused on “health span” - the period of life spent in good health - rather than just lifespan. Ilfi had a fall whilst cycling in the neighborhood during the school holidays in December 2025 but did not reveal to her parents until her right hand became swollen. I had a bad dry cough but just drank a lot of water to ease it until my stomach bloated. (jknkl.moh.gov.my>hpj<)

Ilfi and I realized that getting proper medical treatment for our illness from qualified medical practitioners for early diagnosis, screening, and primary care can reduce the need for intensive, resource heavy treatments later. Unlike traditional health plans, a “living” strategy uses real-time data to continuously adjust care based on changing environment and biology. So, maximizing our positive health outcomes & equity while minimizing negative repercussions.

In reminiscence and narrating our challenging past experiences at Hospital Putrajaya, Ilfi and I are convinced that personal sustainable health is built on “calibrated habits” rather than extremes smart nutrition. To me in particular, given my ripe age of 75 years old, I learned integrating daily mindfulness or stress-management techniques, such as slow nasal breathing or journaling, to maintain emotional wellness, and the “Triple A” of sustainability health.

Father-in-law of my daughter, Dato Paduka Mohd Puat (2nd fr right) advised “Avoid coffee. Start small by mastering one habit of controlling water intake.” Others L-R: Jann, Zarina, Zul & Faiz. Pix: Jann

During recuperating process at the hospital, except for my immediate family, I avoided informing my colleagues and friends about my real health condition. However, Yazdi Bankwala, my best friend in London messaged me to enquire why there has been no article in the Newswav for the past 2-3 weeks. I had to reveal the truth. Thus, overseas members of Global Sejahtera started sending get well messages & Soka Gakkai Malaysia presented nice fruit basket.
