- Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday 9 September, he noted that "brilliant women" are putting themselves forward to succeed Angela Rayner.
- Mr Streeting said that women currently hold all major government offices, apart from the prime minister, having been appointed based on merit.
- He said that diverse perspectives are crucial for governing the country effectively, rather than just for "tick boxes".
