West Ham boss David Moyes admits he's yet to make a decision on the next captain.
Hammers sold Declan Rice to Arsenal on Saturday.
Asked about a new captain, Moyes said: "We're not that further forward as it's only just happened, so we'll have discussions about it. That'll be decided by myself.
"Players come and go from all clubs so you find a new way of preparing and getting things done, but it only got done on Saturday so it's very early.
"I've had some exceptional captains - Nobes at West Ham and Phil Neville at Everton. Dec was great in the short time we worked together here.
"We'll talk and make a decision on our new captain before the start of the season."
