West Ham United are sweating on the fitness of summer signing Nayef Aguerd.
The striker, who arrived from Rennes for £28 million, managed only 23 minutes of a friendly against Rangers in pre-season.
He was then taken off by the club's medical staff, leading to fears about his availability ahead of the new season.
An x-ray has not revealed any fractures to the ankle, but the club are still worried.
"We've already had Nayef X-rayed and there's no break in his ankle, which is good news," manager David Moyes said post-game.
"It might be some ligaments, or he's twisted his ankle – it blew up immediately so we have to hope it's not a problem."
