West Ham United triggered a one-year contract extension in Lukasz Fabianski's deal.

The shot stopper will now remain with the Hammers until beyond his 40th birthday.

Fabianski, who will be 39 in April, was expected to leave the club when his contract expired in the summer.

The Pole has made 200 appearances for the Hammers since arriving from Swansea in 2018.

Fabianski has not lost a step, filling in for Alphonse Areola in the past three Premier League games without a hitch.

I just wanted to make sure Areola didn't come back a couple of days too early," manager David Moyes said.

He's been on the bench the last two games but I felt as if the games merited that I might need him.

It's great, isn't it, when your goalies are keeping clean sheets? That's two this week for us."
