
- Yorkshire has officially entered drought status following low water levels in rivers and reservoirs caused by a sustained lack of rainfall.
- The Environment Agency upgraded the region's status after Yorkshire experienced its fifth driest April to September period on record.
- Yorkshire joins central, southern and eastern England in drought status, while the North East and North West remain in prolonged dry weather.
- Yorkshire Water said it is not planning to introduce water restrictions for customers because of extensive work to manage supplies, reduce leakage and move water around the network.
- However, members of the public are being urged to reduce their water consumption to assist in the region's recovery.
